Is your cat missing?

First of all - Don't Panic!

Cats do wander off and turn up after a few hours or even days and wonder what all the fuss is about. Search round the house - in cupboards (washing machines and tumble driers too), and outside in sheds and garages.

Advertise as widely as possible:

Knock on the neighbours doors and ask them to look round their property as well.

Make up posters with a good description, and a picture if possible, with contact details and distribute round local shops, notice boards and trees (don't forget to remove them when he turns up!).

Contact us, we keep a Lost and Found register, as do other rescue organisations.

your local Council Cleansing Dept. - they will keep records of cats found in the road.

...and don't forget to inform people like us as he will stay on our records until we are notified and it is really nice to be able to take them off!

To minimise the risk of losing your cat:

Have your cat neutered

Keep your cat in at night

Identification - have your cat microchipped and give him a collar with an identity tag.

Have you found a cat?

Is the cat really lost? Ask round about, perhaps you have new neighbours, or someone has acquired a cat which you will be unfamiliar with. Check local notice boards, or Lost & Found in the paper. Put up a notice of your own. Tell people such as the milkman, postman, paper delivery people. Can you get the cat to a vet to check for a microchip?

If the cat appears to be injured please take it to the nearest vet.

Call the animal charities listed above - it may have been reported as missing.

If you cannot look after the cat, please be aware that we usually have a waiting list and may not be able to take the cat in immediately. If you can feed the cat in the meantime and give him some shelter that would be a great help to us.
